The i-on160EX is the control unit for a hybrid wired/wirefree alarm system that extends the i-on range to network expandable systems for more complex installations where a much more flexible solution is required. One i-on160EX control unit can operate up to 160 zones by using expanders sharing a single bus cable. Different types of expander allow either wired or wirefree detectors in the same system. The bus cable also allows the installer to connect keypads or extra power supplies wherever they are needed.

The system uses the same keypad, radio peripherals and the 760ES radio bell as the i-on16 and i-on40 and the same communicators as the i-on40.

The I-on160EX is supplied as a metal box end-station with 10 wired CC or FSL zones, keypad and zone expander bus (45 keypads or zone expanders max), 10 programmable outputs, external sounder outputs and 1 X USB + 1 X Ethernet bus connectors etc. Additional wired zones are provided by installing optional EXP-W10 expanders, each EXP-W10 provides 5 CC or 10 FSL zones, one loudspeaker output and 10 programmable outputs, in addition an i-rc01 card can be fitted which will upgrade the expander to four relay outputs. Radio zones are added to the i-on160 by installing optional wireless expanders EXP-R10 (10 radio zones) or EXP-R30 (30 radio zones), in addition each radio expander provides channels for 2 X i-rk01 radio keypads, 2 X 760ES external radio sounders, 1 X internal loudspeaker and 2 X wireless accessory modules (WAM's).

Note: The total number of radio detectors that can be handled by an i-on160EX control unit depends partly on the density of radio transmitters within a given volume. If there are more than 30 transmitters within 10 meters radius of an expander then some mutual jamming may occur.
